Dealing with crisis & change – Times of Transition (Part 1 of 10)

I felt I would share with you some notes I made a couple years back. They are taken from a little book called “Entering and Leaving Crisis” by Edwin Louis Cole. I discovered it while in South Africa, staying with friends. I was going through a significant time of crisis resulting in a lot of change, and inner turmoil.

This may help those of you currently going through transitional times, about to, or have been. Most is taken from the book, but there are perhaps a few personal additions. Since it was done in 2006, I am unfortunately not able to identify that which is personal, and that which is purely from the book.

REALISE THAT CRISIS IS NORMAL

Whenever you are in transition from one situation of life to another, you will go through a crisis

  • What you need to have, though, is GOD’S DIVINE PERSPECTIVE of what is happening as you believe HIM to guide you through these stages of development.
  • God is always looking at the finished product. He always knows where he wants you to be, not merely where you are
  • God brings you out, that he might bring you in

If you leave your current place with a wounded spirit, unless it is healed, you will enter your next place with a wounded spirit. Whatever the root of the problem is, will produce the same fruit or result again and again. Circumstances and environment are not root causes, but the seeds in a person’s spirit are.

What is in your spirit will determine what you will find in your new circumstances and environment.

  • It is essential to understand that timing is important. Many people stay longer than they should and created a more severe crisis, along with other problems that never would have arisen had they left at the right time
