The Evidence for Faith

>Bertrand Russell was reportedly once asked what he would say to God if he were to find himself confronted by the Almighty about why he had not believed in God’s existence. He said that he would tell God “Not enough evidence, God, not enough evidence!” [Source: Victor Reppert, "Hume on Miracles, Frequencies, and Prior Probabilities"]

I wonder, for so many, what it would take for them to believe? Betrand Russell, in this quote, stands before God and still declares “not enough evidence, God, not enough evidence!”

What evidence would be considered satisfactory? I see evidence, and have chosen to accept that and believe in God. For others, that is not enough. Will they ever be satisfied? Can argument, scientific presentations, thesis, the Bible, conversion stories, can any of that present enough evidence for faith?

I don’t have answers, I see and know God active within my life today, because of my faith…and perhaps often, in spite of my faith!

What I do know, is that the Bible, has said “But these things are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31″So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes from through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

The Case for a Creator: A Journalist Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points Toward God

By Lee Strobel / Zondervan

From evolutionary icons to the uniqueness of planet Earth, from irreducible complexity to the kalam cosmological argument, Lee Strobel gives full rein to his keen analytical mind in addressing these issues and more. But don’t expect an inaccessible tome of arcane scientific terms; Strobel’s years of newspaper reporting give the book a conversational style. Relying on transcriptions of his interviews with experts in the pertinent fields, he tells the incredible stories about the hard science behind what some have termed creationism. Extensively researched, this book should be a classic apologetic text for years to come.
