Christianity, Faith, Spirituality, Life & the Bible
>Ah yes, that beloved term “Mental Destruction”. Having discovered someone navigating to my blog through a web search of that term, I was, to say the least, rather puzzled?! How did that happen? What does that say about my blog, about me…and yes, about you, the readers?! Are we all headed on a path of MENTAL DESTRUCTION? Some might actually say yes, and relate that to the fact that I’m a Christian.
Having “converted” last year from a PC to MAC I have been through that wonderful time of transition. Getting used to new software, different layouts and the various frustrations like not being able to download BBC iPlayer because they don’t yet cater for MAC in such a way! I have been presently surprised by the MAC, I do enjoy it… THAT IS UNTIL YESTERDAY… where all of a sudden i couldn’t access my system… Over and over again it would restart the process of…starting, but never arriving! Like many of us…we start but never seem to arrive…will we ever arrive?
Of course, this happens not when all is quiet, peaceful, restful and free from worldly pressures. Oh no, it occurs when I’m already in a mad panic about Christmas, upcoming exams, assignments to finish (and start!) When you desperately need to access your documents, communicate with the world, blog and facebook (simultaneously of course!)
Can you see the picture…steam coming out of my ears, as I bash my head on the table, throw the instruction booklet, that is not at all helpful, across the room, and “contemplate” rushing to the garage to find the hammer with which will do the most damage!
Ah yes, surely that is true “mental destruction”.
It is quite something to realise how dependent I have become on technology, when only 10yrs ago I opened my first email account, walked down the road to “dial-up” at someone else’s home and print off the 3 emails I received in a month! I hate the fact that one computer hiccup throws out my whole schedule, and puts my into a spin. Surely it should not be like that, surely there is more to this life that my computer?
I would like to put you to rest, my laptop is now working, I am of course back online, communicating with the world once more. However, I am left wondering why my life has become so dependent on technology? Is this how I want it? Is this how it should be?
