If you’ve followed some of my blog since the beginning you will know that I was intrigued when someone navigated to my site through the search term “mental destruction”!? At that time, as far as I was aware, I had not written anything that could be qualified under such a title. However, I cannot speak with certainty on posts since that time, and have titled a couple of my posts with the theme “Mental Destruction”, one of them being when my MAC decided to do one of those computer things that results in having to re-install everything, and thanking God that you recently backed all your work up onto an external drive.
Today, I’m taking a break from the Psalms journey and looking at another personal (note that it’s always a personal encounter) experience of “Mental Destruction”, that wonderful old learning tradition – the exam! Ah yes, don’t we just love that word…examination? Filling us with no end of stress reactions, anxiety and sleepless nights. For many, you have passed the phase of ever having to sit for 3 hrs solid recounting, and regurgitating what you’ve been learning over the past 12 weeks. I salute you. For me, at age 31, the journey is just beginning…Oh the joy!
I’m sure there are no end of blogs and websites dealing with how to face exams, what to do, preparing yourself and the like. I wonder if there is any across the board advice to be given? Perhaps you have your own experience in this area you would like to share – what has worked for you?
I am of course now “on the other end”, having finished the exam. My brain is somewhat fried, there’s a sense of relief, and I’m about to be united with my bed for the afternoon! My journey of the road of Mental destruction is far from over, I have another exam next week, and 2 assignments to finish by next weekend. In the meantime…I bid you a happy day, good mental health, free from the stresses of intellectual exertion,
